Why use a Higher-Quality Product?
Not all panels are made the same; they may look it to the naked eye, but there can be several differences upon closer inspection. This is why we always recommend specification sheets & ideally a factory visit as visually they look virtually the same but there is a significant difference from a performance point of view.
In the current climate the tendency is to drive down price but unfortunately what that means to some of our competitors is to put less steel into the product, e.g. thinner tube &/ mesh.
There are 3 main areas to look at – method of manufacture, mesh & tube. It is very difficult to see if the tube or mesh is thinner but they can be picked up on close inspection as the welds come away quickly due to lack of purchase to a frame & welding can blow holes in a thin-walled tube. The most important difference between an Altrad Generation panel & those of some of our competitors is the manufacturing process.
Manufacture – All Generation fence panels have a 360-degree weld effect in every corner which is up to 70% stronger than traditional mig welding. The joints on the machine are automatically tested to ensure that they can withstand a load of 500kg & only if it does that will the panel be given a unique batch code ensuring that the best fencing reaches our customers every single time. This helps with asset management through traceability & also standardizes your fencing.
However, it is not only the frame to note but the mesh as well. All Generation panels have the mesh pulled taut before welding for full rigidity meaning no wavy mesh & the ends of every wire are welded to the frame not 1 in 3 or 6 like other manufacturers.
So all in all Altrad Generation panels provide maximum strength which means that they are less prone to damage so they last longer and reduce replacement costs. The fully welded mesh-to-panel application not only means it’s stronger as it won’t be easily pulled off the frame but because it’s pulled taut it also looks much better as well.
