More about Scaffolding Tube

Altrad Generation supply a range of different materials and sizes of scaffold tube to meet the diverse needs of construction projects.

Scaffold Tubes, also known as Scaffold Poles, are essential components in the construction and maintenance of various structures, providing support and access for workers.

If you're not sure what grade of Scaffold Tube you require, contact your local branch for more information. We're happy to help.

Materials

  • Galvanised Steel: Galvanised steel scaffold tubes are stronger than their aluminium counterparts, making them suitable for taller, more demanding scaffolds that need to support heavy loads.

The process of galvanising a metal, most commonly steel (although sometimes iron), is where a protective zinc coating is added to its surface in order to prevent rusting. Galvanising is one of the best forms of corrosion resistance, so this allows steel to be used in outside applications where its qualities may be required whilst being protected from the weather.

  • Aluminium: Aluminium scaffold tubes are lighter than galvanised steel scaffold tubes, making them easier to handle and transport. They are used for lighter applications where the scaffold will not be subjected to extreme loads or stresses.

Sizes

We supply Galvanised Steel Scaffold Tubes in both 3.2mm and 4.0mm, with our 3.2mm tubes being stronger and lighter by 25%. Their lightweight properties enhance safety on site as scaffolders are less likely to become fatigued. Furthermore, with the 3.2mm poles there is less load on structures so scaffolding designs can be slimmer.

Corrosion Resistance

Both Galvanised Steel and Aluminium Scaffold Tubes offer excellent resistance to corrosion, making them suitable for use in a variety of environments. The zinc coating on steel tubes provides protection against rust and weathering, while aluminium also has inherent corrosion resistant properties.
